Otley 800 is a once-in-a-generation celebration of our town’s remarkable story.
In 1227, Otley was granted a market charter, helping establish the town as a centre of trade and community life. The following year saw the construction of Otley Bridge, strengthening connections across the River Wharfe and shaping the development of the town we know today.
Nearly 800 years later, Otley 800 will bring together residents, businesses, schools, community groups and visitors to celebrate our shared heritage while looking ahead to the future.
Throughout 2027 and 2028, Otley 800 will showcase the people, places and stories that have helped define our town through a programme of events, community projects, arts and cultural activities, heritage initiatives and opportunities for people of all ages to get involved.
This website will be the home of Otley 800, where you can discover more about the town’s history, explore what’s coming up, find out how to participate and keep up to date with the latest news.
Whether you’ve lived in Otley all your life, are new to the area, run a local business or simply love the town, we hope you’ll join us in celebrating this extraordinary milestone.
After all, most of us only get one chance to celebrate an 800th anniversary.
Welcome to Otley 800.
